What Is a Verbal Commitment?
A verbal commitment, or a "verbal," is an agreement between a coach and an athlete. The coach, in good faith, offers an athlete a place on the roster. The athlete gives his word to agree to play for that college and to sign a "National Letter of Intent" at the next eligible signing period. This takes place before official signing periods and is non-binding.
